Tomorrow, Project DIVFUSE marks its fifth anniversary with an evening of sound pieces sculpted through objects, bringing together three artists who have exhibited or performed at its Lower Clapton micro art space since it opened in 2021.

This is DIVFUSE’s third off-site event and its second at Cafe OTO. Across the bill, discarded materials, field recordings, simple machines, improvised systems and computer processes become the basis for live work: not objects illustrating sound, but objects used to generate, interrupt and organise it.

KATE CARR is a London-based composer and field recordist whose work considers the spaces people create together, and the ways sound can connect us to, immerse us in or remove us from a place. Her live practice centres on objects, chance events and texture. For this performance, she presents experiments with sounding objects and simple robotic processes involving discarded materials.

DAVID SAPPA works in the dense overlap between DIY sound sculpture, improvisation and field recording. Their site-responsive projects begin with found and discarded things, reconfigured and animated through sound to test unstable boundaries between bodies, materials, time and place.

LI SONG is a musician and computer programmer working with improvised computer music, electronics and acoustic instruments. His collaborative projects have used environmental sound, algorithms, random sequence and networked performance to explore composition through systems rather than fixed scores.

Founded and run by Livia Garcia, Project DIVFUSE is an independent exhibition platform dedicated to sound and multimedia art. Since 2021 it has operated from a micro art space in Lower Clapton, presenting work at close range; tomorrow’s programme brings three artists from that history into OTO.
