PORTRAITS(BILLY STEIGER / DANIEL BLUMBERG / SEYMOUR WRIGHT)

No Longer Available

We’re pleased to welcome back PORTRAITS, the multimedia trio of Billy Steiger, Daniel Blumberg and Seymour Wright, whose shared practice has been evolving since 2015.

Billy Steiger’s violin playing occupies a singular place within London’s improvising scene, his work continually unsettling convention.

Daniel Blumberg is a composer and visual artist working across performance, recording, film and drawing. Alongside four solo albums released by Mute, he composed the Academy Award and BAFTA-winning score for The Brutalist, and has since written music for The Testament of Ann Lee and Gianfranco Rosi’s Sotto Le Nuvole.

Seymour Wright’s work centres on what he describes as the creative, situated friction between learning, ideas, people and the saxophone: music, history and technique, both actual and potential. His solo music is documented across Seymour Wright of Derby, Seymour Writes Back and Is This Right?, while his current collaborations include [Ahmed], GUO with Blumberg and XT with Paul Abbott.

Together, PORTRAITS approaches the portrait as something produced through an encounter between sound, image, gesture and attention.
